For over 35 years, Sofie Formica has established her place as one of Queensland’s most recognised and trusted media personalities, building an award-winning career across television, radio, live events and digital media in Australia and the United States.

Best known to Queensland audiences as the long-time host of The Great South East and The Great Day Out, Sofie has also fronted some of Australia’s most iconic 90’s television programs, including Saturday Disney, Now You See It—where she became the country’s first solo female host of a national quiz show—and the hit prime-time series Just Kidding!

Her career has taken her from Brisbane to Hollywood, reporting for EXTRA, interviewing some of the world’s biggest stars, and hosting pioneering technology programs in the United States before being personally selected by Oprah Winfrey to co-host the acclaimed series Oprah Goes Online.
Returning home to Brisbane to raise her family, Sofie spent 14 years showcasing the very best of South East Queensland on Seven’s The Great South East, helping make it one of the station’s highest-rating local programs.

A skilled interviewer and communicator, Sofie has spent decades engaging with world leaders, celebrities, business innovators, health experts, sporting champions and everyday Australians. Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life has made her one of Australia’s most sought-after MCs, keynote interviewers and conference facilitators. She regularly hosts gala awards, moderates panel discussions and leads major corporate and community events with warmth, intelligence and professionalism.

From 2021 to 2025, Sofie hosted Afternoons with Sofie Formica on Brisbane’s 4BC, returning local voices to Brisbane radio while interviewing leading newsmakers and celebrating the people, businesses and stories that shape Queensland.

Today, Sofie continues to work across television, live events and digital media, including as the face of National Product Review, while expanding her work in healthy ageing, wellness and wellness travel.
