Paul Hasleby is a former AFL star, senior coach, leadership expert, and mental health advocate. Growing up in Northampton, Western Australia, Paul developed a passion for sport, playing football, cricket, and tennis, before moving to Perth to attend Mazenod College.
Paul went on to play 208 games over 11 seasons for the Fremantle Football Club, earning numerous accolades including the AFL Rising Star Award (2000), AFL All Australian (2003), and four-time Ross Glendinning Medallist. He was twice runner-up in the Fremantle Best & Fairest Award and represented Australia in the International Rules Series. Paul later coached South Fremantle in the WAFL.
Following his playing career, Paul became a commentator and co-host on television and radio, including AFL and WAFL broadcasts and Radio 6PR’s Sports Today. He also worked in corporate Australia with ASX 100 company Monadelphous as a Learning and Development Adviser, delivering programs in leadership, teamwork, communication, and safety.
Paul is a passionate mental health advocate. In 2009, he was elected to the Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention and contributed to WA’s One Life suicide prevention strategy as an ambassador. He is trained in Gatekeeper and has completed Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST).
