Paul Clitheroe AM is one of Australia’s most respected financial media commentators and a leading voice on financial literacy, personal resilience, and informed decision-making. Renowned for his ability to explain complex financial issues in plain English, Paul has spent decades helping Australians build confidence, capability, and resilience in their financial lives.
He is Chairman of the Australian Government Financial Literacy Board, responsible for setting and implementing the National Strategy for Financial Literacy. Widely recognised as one of the most influential figures in Australia’s finance industry, Paul has delivered keynote presentations at hundreds of conferences across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Europe.
Paul was the long-standing host of Money on Channel Nine from 1993 to 2002 and is Chairman of Money Magazine. He is also the author of several highly successful financial books, including Making Money and Make Your Fortune by 40, with combined sales exceeding 600,000 copies. His writing and media work focus on empowering individuals to make smarter choices, adapt to change, and build long-term financial security.
Beyond media and publishing, Paul holds a range of senior leadership and governance roles. He is Chairman of the listed fintech company InvestSMART, a Director of the Monash Absolute Investment Fund, Chairman of the youth anti–drink-driving organisation RADD, and a Director of the Sydney Medical School Foundation. He is a Life Member of FINSIA and holds the Chair of Financial Literacy at Macquarie University.
Paul’s message of resilience extends beyond finance. A passionate ocean racer, he won the 2015 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in his TP52 Balance—an achievement that reflects his belief in preparation, teamwork, adaptability, and calm decision-making under pressure.
