One of Australia’s most distinguished rural journalists, with a career spanning more than three decades. A mainstay reporter on ABC’s acclaimed Landline program since 2001, Tim Lee has told the stories of rural and regional Australia with authenticity, insight and respect.

Before joining Landline, Tim worked in regional newspapers, radio and television, and as a producer on Australian Story. His reporting has taken him across the country, covering the people, challenges and triumphs that shape life in the bush.

A regular co-host of the ABC’s Victorian state-wide Conversation Hour, Tim brings thoughtful commentary to issues affecting regional and rural communities. Away from the newsroom, he’s a part-time farmer at Briagolong in eastern Victoria and an accomplished author and historian. His books explore the rich heritage of Australia’s wool industry, woolsheds, drovers and fishing culture.

Tim’s passion for rural Australia was forged during his Gippsland childhood, where he worked as a woolshed roustabout, rabbit trapper and bushfire fighter. His dedication to telling the stories of the land and its people has earned him numerous accolades, including the United Nations Association Media Peace Award and three-time recognition as Victorian Rural Journalist of the Year.
