Matthew Burke is one of Australian rugby’s most celebrated backs, enjoying an outstanding 11-season career with the Wallabies and earning legendary status as one of the game’s great point scorers. A triple World Cup representative (1995, 1999, 2003), he earned 81 Test caps, scoring 878 international points across fullback, wing and outside centre.

At Super Rugby level, Burke starred for the NSW Waratahs, becoming the state’s highest all-time points scorer and finishing his final season as the competition’s leading points scorer overall. His calm precision under pressure was memorably showcased in the 1999 World Cup final, where he contributed 25 points in Australia’s victory over France.

Following his Wallabies career, Matthew played professionally in the UK with the Newcastle Falcons, where he was named Player of the Year and later appointed captain. He then transitioned seamlessly into media, becoming the face of international rugby coverage for Network Ten.
