Jane Flemming OAM is a dual Olympian, Commonwealth Games gold medallist, and one of Australia’s most respected sporting, business, and community leaders. She is the founding Managing Director of Flemming Promotions, providing sponsorship and marketing expertise to major corporations in Australia and the UK, including Cadbury, Samsung, British Airways, and Coates Hire, and has commercially managed several high-profile Olympic champions.
In 2013, Jane co-founded LIVE LIFE GET ACTIVE (LLGA), a community health initiative delivering free physical, mental, and social wellbeing programs across Australia. LLGA has launched over 350 sites in six states and was recently recognised with the Global Fit for Life Foundation award, selected from more than 500 international organisations.
As an elite athlete, Jane competed at two Olympic Games, won dual Commonwealth Games gold and silver medals, held 13 national titles, and set the Commonwealth Games and Australian Heptathlon records (still standing since 1990). Since retiring in 1997, she has built a distinguished career in media and commentary, working with Channels 7, 9, 10, SBS, the Olympic Broadcast Service, and covering six Olympic Games, nine World Championships, and five Commonwealth Games. She is also a regular expert commentator on sport, sponsorship, health, and wellbeing.
Jane is President of Athletics Australia, a director of the Sydney North Health Network, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has authored the book Fast Track to Success, delivered keynote addresses worldwide, and is a highly sought-after MC and conference speaker.
Her philanthropic work includes serving as Director of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation (2006–2022), Ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and undertaking fundraising treks including the Kokoda Track, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Tasmanian Overland Track.
Jane’s achievements have been recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), inclusion in Australia’s 100 Most Influential Women (Westpac & Financial Review, 2016), the NSW Government Community Service Award (2019), and being named one of Australia’s 100 Most Influential Women in Sport (2023).
She is married to Ian Purchas and has twin boys, James and Samuel.
