Anne Edmonds

Comedian and MC

A rock star of Australian comedy with stand up that is fearless and hilarious. Not one to tolerate any level of rubbish, Anne’s stand up takes aim at any worthy target, no matter how close to home it is.

And as any of her many alter egos, Anne transforms into characters that are terrifying and familiar in equal measure.

Since she appeared on the scene in 2010, Anne has been nominated for the Melbourne Comedy Festival Award multiple times and won both the Director’s Choice and the peer voted Piece Of Wood Award.

She is a familiar face on the silver screen starring on Taskmaster Australia, Have You Been Paying Attention, Fisk and as her alter ego, Helen Bidou on Get Krak!n.

In 2025 Anne will be seen as the new host of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Gen, the rebooted version of Shaun Micallef’s Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation.

More about Anne Edmonds:

Anne burst onto the scene in 2010, Anne quickly grew into a comedy force. She has been nominated for the Melbourne Comedy Festival Award four times and won both the Director’s Choice and the peer voted Piece Of Wood Award at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. She has played London’s Soho Theatre five times.

Anne is a familiar face on Australian TV screens, making regular appearances on Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Project and Hughesy We Have A Problem. She has appeared on 7’s Real Dirty Dancing and was the host of the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Opening Night Gala, broadcast on ABC TV. Anne created, wrote and starred in her own series, The Edge of the Bush, a Scandi-noir inflected comedy series for ABC TV, which debuted to critical acclaim in September 2017. The series was subsequently made available on ABC iView.

Anne’s most iconic character creation is Helen Bidou, the fashion and beauty ‘krackspert’ on ABC’s Get Krack!n. Helen is an infomercial presenter fuelled by resentment and Kiwi Mojitos whose sarong-based misadventures set the wheels in motion for Anne’s 2018 live show Helen Bidou: Enter the Spinnaker Lounge. The show earned Anne her third Melbourne Comedy Award nod and a Best Comedy Performer nomination at the Helpmann Awards.

Anne’s incendiary solo show What’s Wrong With You? was also nominated for the Melbourne Comedy Festival Award and was filmed as a special for international release on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
