Quick Contact

Romy Mayer is one of the most highly respected race engineers in the Supercars paddock and a recognised trailblazer in international motorsport. As Supercars’ first female Race Engineer, she has built a distinguished career spanning more than 15 years, working at the highest levels of the sport with globally renowned teams including Mercedes Motorsport and Red Bull Racing.

Originally from Germany, Romy holds a strong academic background in automotive engineering. She began her professional motorsport career as a Data and Performance Engineer with Mercedes Motorsport in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), where she developed deep expertise in vehicle performance, data analysis, and race strategy.

In 2015, seeking a new challenge, Romy relocated to Australia to join Red Bull Racing in Supercars. During her six-year tenure, she played a key role in one of the most successful eras in the sport’s history, contributing to three Drivers’ Championships with Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen, as well as four Team Championships. In 2022, she served as Race Engineer for Triple Eight’s Bathurst 1000 Wildcard entry with Craig Lowndes, achieving the most successful Wildcard result in the event’s history. That same year, Romy also engineered a Mercedes-AMG GT3 program that went on to win the GT World Challenge Asia Championship.

In 2023, Romy embraced another challenge, joining the younger and rapidly developing PremiAir Racing team. Within a year, the car she engineered secured the team’s maiden Pole Position at the 2024 Darwin Triple Crown, followed by PremiAir Racing’s first-ever Supercars podium at the Sandown 500—milestones that underscored her impact as both a technical leader and performance driver of change.

Beyond the racetrack, Romy is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM. She is an FIA Girls on Track Ambassador and Co-Founder of Future Females Australia, and regularly presents at schools, universities, and corporate events to inspire the next generation—particularly young women—to pursue careers in engineering and technology.

As a keynote speaker, Romy translates the high-pressure, data-driven world of elite motorsport into practical, real-world strategies for business and leadership. Drawing compelling parallels between race operations and corporate environments, she focuses on decision-making under pressure, performance optimisation, risk management, and effective communication. Her ability to turn the intensity of the paddock into actionable insights ensures audiences leave inspired, empowered, and equipped with tools they can apply immediately within their own teams and organisations.
