Dr Rhonda Galbally AC has been a CEO, Chair, and board member for over three decades, spanning business, government, philanthropy, and the not-for-profit sector. A woman with a lifelong disability, she began her career in the early 1980s focusing on disability rights and policy at the Victorian Council for Social Services. She went on to lead groundbreaking initiatives, including establishing VicHealth, the world’s first health promotion foundation funded by a tobacco levy, and founding the Australian Commission for the Future, the Australian International Health Institute, and the Australian National Preventative Health Agency.

Dr Galbally was the founding CEO of Our Community Pty Ltd and has chaired the Royal Women’s Hospital and numerous boards and advisory councils, including the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Independent Advisory Council. She played a pivotal role in developing the Every Australian Counts campaign, which united people with disabilities, families, and services to advocate for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Her work spans public health, human rights, and disability advocacy, with extensive experience in systems including health, education, justice, and housing. Across her career, Dr Galbally has remained committed to promoting social and economic inclusion, peer support, contemporary living models, and the right for people with disabilities to live fully in the community, free from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
