Mikey Robins is one of Australia’s best-loved entertainers, known for his sharp wit, intelligent observations, and quick-fire humour. Starting out as part of the iconic Australian sketch group Castanet Club and the subject of the 1991 cult film of the same name, Mikey quickly became a household name in Australian radio. As co-host of triple j’s national breakfast show with Helen Razer in the 90s, Mikey became a beloved figure, dominating the airwaves and shaping the station’s legacy.

After seven successful years on radio, Mikey transitioned to television, becoming an audience favourite as team leader on the hit show Good News Week, along with its various spin-offs. He’s also worked extensively in radio for ABC, Vega, and Triple M, including co-hosting Merrick… and Australia with Merrick Watts and appearing regularly on Grill Team.

Mikey’s television appearances are numerous and include hosting Studio 10, You Have Been Watching, and making regular guest appearances on Sunrise and Spicks and Specks. His personal story was featured on Australian Story, which went on to become one of the program’s highest-rated episodes. Mikey also shared his health journey on One + One with Jane Hutcheon and showcased his culinary skills on The Cook Up With Adam Liaw.

A prolific writer, Mikey has co-authored several books, including Three Beers and a Chinese Meal and Big Man’s World, and penned columns for The Daily Telegraph, GQ, and Men’s Style. His 2018 release Seven Deadly Sins and One Very Naughty Fruit explored culinary oddities, followed by Reprehensible: Polite Histories of Bad Behaviour in 2020, and his most recent book Idiots, Follies & Misadventures in 2023.

In 2021, Mikey co-launched the Heros and Howlers – And The Rest Is History podcast with Oxford historian Paul Wilson. This podcast, now in its fourth year, offers a humorous and insightful look at quirky moments in history, maintaining a 4.9-star rating.

A seasoned stand-up comedian, Mikey has performed at the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals and regularly appears in comedy clubs and on cruise ships. His military entertainment tour to Afghanistan was a particularly moving experience. Mikey has also served as MC for the Dalai Lama’s public talk in Sydney, which was a career highlight.
