Mark Beretta OAM is one of Australia’s most trusted and best-loved media personalities, with more than 30 years at the forefront of sport and news. Known nationwide as Beretts, he became a household name as the long-standing sports presenter on Sunrise, where he was a fixture for 22 years on Australia’s most-watched breakfast television program.
A veteran broadcaster, Mark has covered 13 Summer and Winter Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, AFL, Rugby, the Australian Open, the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, Bathurst 1000, Supercars, World Cup Aerials, Moomba Masters, Surf League and more, earning a reputation as one of Australia’s premier sports communicators.
A 10-time Australian Water Ski Champion and former U.S. record holder, Mark’s passion for sport runs deep. He now leads the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation’s Brisbane 2032 Bid Committee, championing the sport’s inclusion in the Olympic Games.
Mark is equally renowned for his community leadership. A long-serving Board member of the Tour de Cure cancer charity, he has completed 16 challenging rides—including 1,700km from Sydney to Hobart—helping the organisation raise more than $158 million for cancer research, treatment and prevention. His contribution was recognised in 2021 with the Medal of the Order of Australia.
His career also spans engineering roles with BHP and Honeywell, a memorable turn on Dancing With The Stars, and serving as MC for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace for the launch of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay.
A Major in the Australian Army Reserve, Mark has received the Australian Defence Medal and a Chief of Army Gold Commendation. He is also an Ambassador for the RAISE Foundation and was named the 2019 Australian Father of the Year.
Based in Sydney, Mark is a proud father to Ava and Dan, and grandfather to Arlo. Renowned for his integrity, energy and warmth, he remains one of Australia’s most respected and in-demand presenters.
