Kiara grew up in the outback town of Leonora, Western Australia, before moving to Perth for university. She took up athletics at the age of 20 and quickly rose through the state and national ranks in the heptathlon, becoming runner-up Australian National Champion for three consecutive years and qualifying for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, though she was ultimately overlooked for selection.
Kiara moved to Melbourne to pursue greater sporting opportunities and was soon selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Championships, where she won gold and broke the championship record. In 2021, she joined one of Australia’s women’s bobsleigh teams. After seeing snow for the first time in November 2021, she outperformed all Australian brakewomen and was quickly paired with the number-one pilot. Just two days after meeting, Kiara and Bree achieved Australia’s best-ever two-woman result on the World Cup circuit, finishing seventh. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics as brakewoman, only months after her first bobsleigh race. Kiara and Bree are now aiming for a medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy.
Alongside her sporting career, Kiara has built expertise across a diverse range of fields. She holds a BSc in Conservation and Wildlife Biology, a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Science and Mathematics teaching, and is a qualified practitioner in Agile Project Management. She currently works in operations management for a junior gold exploration company and as a success and mindset NLP coach, helping others grow and achieve across all areas of life.
Kiara remains connected to her hometown of Leonora, returning each year for the “Golden Gift” running event, where she supports local and Indigenous kids in training and serves as Patron of the event.
