Quick Contact
Hamish McLachlan cut his broadcasting teeth in horse sports and polo, where his roles as player and administrator opened doors to calling games locally and internationally, including the Cartier International in England and tests across Europe and Asia. Determined to hone his craft, he spent three summers in Europe hosting sporting and charity events, building the experience needed to break into Australian broadcasting.
Returning home in 2008, Hamish joined Channel 7, first hosting AFL Game Day with a mix of informed opinion and light-hearted banter alongside the game’s greats. He went on to host Spring Racing coverage, call tennis for the Australian Open World Feed, and lead Triple M’s award-winning Spring Racing broadcasts. His experience also includes breakfast radio on SEN and calling AFL matches.
One of Australia’s premier big-event hosts, Hamish has fronted the Melbourne Cup, Rio 2016 Olympics, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and Australian Spartan. He hosted the 2019 Brownlow Medal Count and, in 2020, the popular AFL digital series The Last Time I Cried.
