George McEncroe is an extraordinary business leader, advocate for women, keynote speaker, MC, and media performer. She is best known as the founder of Shebah, Australia’s all-women rideshare, a company that has empowered over 1,200 female drivers and prioritised safety for more than 110,000 women passengers.
George’s journey is defined by courage, innovation, and resilience. As a divorced mother of four, she launched Shebah while juggling family responsibilities, transforming a personal challenge into a business that champions women’s financial independence, safety, and opportunity. She also provides free financial literacy consultations to drivers, helping them achieve real-world empowerment.
Her career spans diverse and impactful fields. George has a long background in disability support, education, and welfare coordination, and has served as an educator teaching English and Literature. She worked with the War Crimes Tribunal to prepare an Amicus Curiae brief, helping establish rape as a war crime—a toolkit later used in the Rwandan Trials.
George is also a talented comedic performer and media personality, having appeared on The Cage (Triple M Brisbane), ABC’s The Circle, and Spicks and Specks, as well as contributing to major newspapers and anthologies including Mothermorphosis, Kitchen Table Memoirs, Blind Spots, and Listening to the Silences: Women and War.
A trailblazer in every sense, George was the first female footy coach of teenage boys in Australia, has led school councils, mentored women across sport, business, education, and health, and continues to inspire change through leadership, innovation, and advocacy.
