David Ireland is one of the world’s most seasoned wildlife filmmakers, spending more than 35 years capturing extraordinary encounters with whales, sharks, crocs, snakes, marsupials, birds, insects and Africa’s great predators.

His career has been anything but safe — he’s had his back broken by a whale, been bitten by sharks and crocodiles, and even had his ribs shattered by a wild boar. But David’s mission has never wavered: to spotlight the harsh realities native animals face in a rapidly changing world.

An accomplished bushman, bow hunter, master dive instructor and sea captain, David brings unmatched field experience to every story he tells. He is also passionate about protecting Australia’s fragile ecosystems by tackling the impact of feral species on endangered wildlife.

A devoted family man, David is married to Susan and is the proud father of four sons and grandfather to Oscar, Harvey and Alfie. Alongside filmmaking, he’s a sought-after public speaker who inspires audiences with raw, real and unforgettable stories from a life lived on the edge of the wild.
