ne of Australia’s greatest ever netball players, Anne Sargeant represented the Australian Netball Team from 1978 to 1988, captaining for six years and setting records that are unlikely ever to be matched.
Since retiring, Anne has continued to make her mark in sport and media as a speaker, motivator, author, radio and television commentator, and corporate presenter. She has been recognised with the Communicator of the Year Award (1992, PRIA), induction into Australia’s Sporting Hall of Fame, and appointment as an Order of Australia recipient (1988). In 2003, she was named Sydney’s Greatest Ever Netballer, and in 1998, Sydney Ferries honoured her by naming a HarbourCat, the Anne Sargeant HarbourCat, after her—the first time a sportswoman from a team sport received such recognition.
Anne has hosted and appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including Look Who’s Talking, Optus Netball Program, Today, Midday, and 2BL, and contributed as a columnist for the Daily Telegraph/Mirror for nearly a decade. She has also served on prominent boards, including the Australian Hall of Fame, McDonald’s Australia, and the Australian Sports Commission, and is an Australia Day Ambassador.
