Alvin Quah is a Celebrity Chef, former MasterChef Australia finalist, and passionate ambassador for Malaysian cuisine. With a unique blend of culinary artistry and scientific expertise, Alvin delivers inspiring, educational, and entertaining cooking demonstrations, as well as fascinating after-dinner talks exploring the intersection of food, culture, and science.
Born in Kuala Lumpur with Chinese Malaysian heritage, Alvin migrated to Melbourne in 1994 to pursue a PhD in cell biology and biochemistry, completing further postdoctoral research in proteomics. His scientific curiosity informs his approach to cooking, combining Eastern and Western culinary traditions with creativity and respect for cultural authenticity.
Since MasterChef Australia Series 2, Alvin has worked as an ambassador for Asian food giant Ayam, hosted Malaysian Kitchen, and showcased his skills at prestigious events including the Good Food Show both in Australia and internationally.
