Tom Tilley is a strategic communications adviser and speechwriter to senior NSW Government Minister John Graham, bringing nearly two decades of national media experience to the heart of public policy and leadership.

Tom spent 18 years as a broadcast journalist with a prominent national profile. He has interviewed Australian Prime Ministers and global figures including Sir David Attenborough, Julian Assange and Al Gore.

He first rose to prominence as host of Triple J’s daily current affairs program Hack, where he earned a reputation for robust, impartial and deeply human journalism. He later co-created, produced and presented the ABC2 television series Hack Live, and guest hosted flagship ABC programs including Radio National Breakfast and Foreign Correspondent.

Tom is the author of the memoir Speaking in Tongues (HarperCollins) and co-created and hosted The Briefing podcast at SCA. His media career has also included reporting roles with The Project, 7News Spotlight, and regular appearances on Nine.

Beyond journalism and policy, Tom is a sought-after MC and event host, having led major events including the Sydney Opera House’s Antidote Festival, Semi-Permanent and numerous writers’ festivals.

Earlier in his career, Tom worked in finance as a graduate at Deutsche Bank — experience that broadened his understanding of business, economics and institutional decision-making.
