With more than 25 years’ experience in improvisational theatre, Sam trained in Chicago at The Second City, ImprovOlympic and ComedySportz — three of the world’s most respected improv institutions. He has performed in TheatreSports for many years and is the creator of The Big Hoo-Haa!, a long-running improv comedy show entertaining audiences weekly since 2002.
He continues to perform both long- and short-form improv and trains improvisers of all levels, fostering creativity, confidence and spontaneity on and off stage.
A professional actor for more than two decades, Sam has performed extensively across theatre, film and television. His work has taken him from local stages to international festivals and the Sydney Opera House. Known for his quick wit, physical performance style and affable presence, he brings versatility and authenticity to every role.
In 2006, performing as an eight-foot creature in Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are sparked a deep appreciation for large-scale filmmaking. Since then, Sam has directed the short film The Cookie Crumbles, written two feature films and worked behind the camera across web series, television commercials and short films.
