Phil Johnson

Renowned landscape designer and TV presenter

Phillip Johnson is one of Australia’s most innovative landscape designers, recognised as a sustainable landscape pioneer in the residential and commercial sectors.

Phillip leads one of the most awarded firms in the landscaping industry, known for its use of indigenous and native plants, water management and the re-creation of thriving habitats.

In 2013 Phillip represented Australia at the world’s most prestigious horticultural event – the Chelsea International Flower Show in its milestone 100th year – and was crowned the first Australian in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show’s 152-year history to win the coveted Best In Show award.

Following Phillip’s win, he gained global attention and interest as a leading expert in the ‘garden world’ on both a national and international level.

Phillip Johnson is a passionate and enthusiastic presenter, a brilliant communicator and a very capable MC. He is articulate and engages his audiences with his knowledge of the industry, making him highly sought after and an emerging talent on Lifestyle TV.

Phil’s speaking topics cover the more obvious horticultural aspects but can also be adapted for business conferences. They include Planning and preparation, Persistence, Teamwork, Enthusiasm, Environment & sustainability, as well as the more obvious horticultural aspects.

Phil featured in a two-part TV series for the Lifestyle channel, Chelsea’s Greatest Garden 2013, which was presented by Selling Houses Australia’s Charlie Albone and documented the building of the winning Trailfinders Australian Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. ITV Australia is also documenting his work as he undertakes imaginative, large-scale projects around the world.

While the 2013 Chelsea Flower Show represents a career highlight, Phil has won many awards during his more than 20-career in the industry including the 2011 and 2012 Ford Sustainability Award at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show and, also in 2012, Gold in the Show Garden category.

Phillip has a degree in Applied Science in Horticulture at the University of Melbourne. He lectures at various Australian universities and industry conferences.

Phil is an inspiration to people of all ages, particularly with his message of sustainability and enhancing (and utilising) the environment with his designs.
