Professor Niki Ellis is an internationally recognised expert in occupational and public health, specialising in workplace stress, organisational health, and workforce innovation. She advises organisations of all sizes on improving employee wellbeing, productivity, and safety.

She is Deputy CEO of the Australian Institute of Health Workforce Innovation at the University of Queensland and a Visiting Professor at London South Bank University. Professor Ellis also serves as an occupational health and safety expert commissioner on the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission.

Professor Ellis co-developed and presented Stressbuster, a four-part ABC Television series examining stress in the workplace. The series followed her work with organisations to assess organisational health and implement practical action plans to improve wellbeing and performance.

A dynamic and engaging presenter, Professor Ellis is known for her no-nonsense, straight-talking style and her ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and warmth. She is a highly sought-after keynote speaker and corporate trainer.

Her career spans senior advisory and leadership roles across Australia and the United Kingdom, including Foundation Professor and Director of the Centre for Military and Veterans’ Health at the University of Queensland. She has served as Inaugural President of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Head of Preventive Strategies at the Australian National Occupational Health and Safety Commission, Chair of the NSW WorkCover Medical Advisory Committee, and a member of the World Health Organization’s expert panel on occupational health.

Professor Ellis has published extensively, written for leading occupational health and safety publications, and was technical editor for Australian Doctor Weekly. She authored Work and Health: Management in Australia and New Zealand for Oxford University Press.

Her contributions have been recognised with the College Medal from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
