Michèle A’Court is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished and enduring figures in comedy and entertainment. A stand-up comedian, writer, actor and highly regarded event MC / kaiwhakataki, she was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in the 2023 New Year’s Honours for services to comedy and entertainment.

Winner of Female Comedian of the Decade at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards and the Reilly Award for Excellence in Comedy, Michèle’s career spans more than four decades across television, live performance, writing and broadcasting. Her international stand-up experience includes performances throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, Papua New Guinea and East Timor.

Michèle’s television credits include Brokenwood Mysteries, Go Girls and Shortland Street. She has been a regular panellist on TVNZ’s long-running hit comedy show 7 Days since its launch and has appeared as a guest host on Three’s The Project. She is also a sought-after conference facilitator, event host and after-dinner speaker, valued for her sharp intelligence, warmth and ability to connect with diverse audiences.

Originally trained as a journalist, Michèle is the author of two bestselling books published by HarperCollins and is a long-standing opinion writer, currently contributing a weekly column to NZ Woman’s Weekly. She is a Life Member of the NZ Comedy Guild, a member of Actors’ Equity, and an active patron and ambassador for several health and community organisations.
