Jessie Lloyd is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musician, producer and creative entrepreneur from tropical North Queensland. Deeply committed to song tradition, Jessie works across production, performance and leadership to progress Australian Indigenous music and champion progressive social values.
A highly accomplished vocalist and multi-instrumentalist—guitar, bass and ukulele—Jessie’s music is shaped by lived experience, discipline and natural musicality. Her work is marked by authenticity, emotional depth and a powerful connection to culture, contributing meaningfully to the diversity of Australian arts and audiences.
Music runs through Jessie’s lineage. Her grandfather, Albie Geia, conducted the Palm Island Brass Band, and her father, Joe Geia, is a pioneer of contemporary Indigenous music and composer of the Aboriginal National Anthem, Yil Lull.
Jessie trained at Abmusic in Perth and released her debut solo EP Other Side of the Room in 2014. She has produced numerous projects, albums and live performances, and created a music television series for NITV. Her smooth, resonant vocals carry lyrics of strength and universal relevance.
Beyond the stage, Jessie has extensive experience in Indigenous music sector development. She has served as CEO of Songlines Aboriginal Music in Melbourne and South West Aboriginal Entertainment in Perth and continues to lead the continuation of cultural practice through both traditional and contemporary Indigenous music.
