Ian Doyle is a highly experienced presenter, MC, moderator, and after-dinner speaker, renowned for his engaging style and extensive national and local media experience. He has been involved with numerous high-profile television and radio programs, earning multiple state and national awards for his journalism.

Born and educated in North Queensland, Ian holds a degree in Economics and a Diploma of Education. After teaching in Charters Towers in the late 1970s, he joined the ABC, working as a radio and television journalist and executive producer with the Rural Department. During his tenure with ABC Countrywide and Landline, he produced award-winning international reports from Egypt, Eastern Africa, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. His African documentary Seeds of Hope was nominated for the Berlin Film Awards.

Ian has also contributed to acclaimed radio documentary series, including Blue Hills Revisited, Great Working Dog Stories, and The Bloke from the Birdsville Track – the George Bell Story. Following his resignation from the ABC in 1997, he produced numerous TV documentaries aired on ABC, SBS, Qantas InFlight, the History Channel, and commercial television. Key projects include The Last Mail from Birdsville – the Story of Tom Kruse (1999), Source to Sea – the Story of the Murray Riverboats (2001), Three Men and a Boat – the MFV Tacoma Story (2013), and The Mailmen Back of Beyond (2014).

He has presented local, state and national radio programs such as Australia All Over, Tony Delroy’s Nightlife, ABC Early Mornings, and ABC Adelaide Breakfast.

Actively engaged in the community, Ian supports Trees for Life and the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and is a foundation board member of Australia’s Open Garden Scheme. He is a former board member of the Barossa Music Festival and life member — serving 31 years as President — of Rural Media SA. In 2014, he was honoured as a Rural Media Icon, and in June 2021, he was awarded an OAM for services to journalism and the community.
