He has a deep understanding of the links between leadership, organisational culture, and performance—and what drives both people and organisations to succeed.
Grant works one-on-one with executives at all levels, from senior leaders to front-line managers, and develops tailored leadership programs that align culture, strategy, and performance. He also works with organisations to analyse culture, identify gaps, and implement practical solutions that drive high-performing teams.
His coaching and leadership programs are grounded in business, psychology, and adult learning principles, and are designed to challenge participants to think and act differently. Grant equips leaders with practical strategies to achieve sustainable, high-performance outcomes, transforming both individual and organisational effectiveness.
Before moving into the corporate sector, Grant was a highly regarded Naval Commander with 29 years of service. His career included warship command, strategic-level organisational development, operations management, administration, and the design and delivery of training programs.
When he assumed command of HMAS Westralia, Grant faced a unique challenge: the ship had developed a culture of fear and low expectations following a tragic fire in 1998. Focusing on what could be achieved rather than what couldn’t, he improved the ship’s performance through systems, structures, leadership, and culture. By adopting a values-based approach to leadership, he engaged personnel to achieve far higher levels of performance than expected. Within eighteen months, HMAS Westralia’s culture, efficiency, and effectiveness had been transformed, creating a fleet asset recognised for its winning culture and operational excellence.
Drawing on this Defence Force experience, Grant now works as a business consultant, corporate speaker, and executive coach, helping leaders and organisations achieve high performance through effective leadership, culture transformation, and practical strategies.
