Alongside his television work, Graham hosts one of Australia’s longest-running and highest-rating radio programs. Celebrating a record 33 years on air in 2013, the show continues to offer expert advice, seasonal tips, interviews, and international gardening insights. Graham’s gardening updates are also heard across 60 radio stations around Australia.

The Ross family also publishes the Garden Clinic Journal, the magazine for members of the Garden Clinic Club—Australia’s largest gardening club—and runs Ross Garden Tours, the world’s largest specialist garden tour operation.

Graham’s horticultural journey began in his school years, working at a local nursery before graduating from Ryde School of Horticultural TAFE in 1964 with qualifications in Park Administration, Horticulture, Greenkeeping and Agronomy. His early career included work as a landscaper, nurseryman, park superintendent, and later Senior Head Teacher and Head of the Division of Horticulture for NSW at Ryde TAFE.

Moving into media in the late 1970s, Graham produced and presented gardening programs for ABC TV, delivered segments on Seven’s 11AM, reported for Seven National News, and served as gardening editor for Sydney’s Daily Telegraph and the former Sun Newspaper.

Graham has contributed extensively to professional and industry associations, including the Royal Botanic Garden Trust, the Royal Horticultural Society of NSW, the Nursery & Garden Industry Associations of Australia, and Sydney garden festival projects. He is Patron of the NSW Rose Society and President of the Horticultural Media Association (NSW).

His contributions have been recognised with numerous awards, including the Gold Laurel and Hall of Fame Awards from the Australian Horticultural Media Association, the NSW Nursery Industry Association’s Award for Excellence, and in 2000 the inaugural Electronic Laurel. In 2011, he received one of horticulture’s highest honours—the Veitch Memorial Medal from the Royal Horticultural Society in London—becoming only the fourth Australian to receive the award since its creation in 1870.

Graham has co-authored several bestselling books with his family, including The Weekend Gardener, Our World of Gardening, Gardens of the World and From the Ground Up. He is currently working on the second edition of Our World of Gardening and his forthcoming memoirs.
