Eddie McGuire is one of Australia’s most influential and recognisable media figures, with more than 40 years of award-winning broadcasting, executive leadership and production experience.
Starting in journalism at just 13, Eddie rose through the ranks to become CEO of the Nine Network and the host of some of Australia’s biggest television franchises, including The Footy Show and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He’s fronted coverage of the world’s major sporting events—from the Olympic and Commonwealth Games to the AFL Grand Final, Formula One, the Super Bowl, international basketball, the Melbourne Cup Carnival and the Logie Awards. He was also the face of Fox Footy’s AFL coverage and the long-running host and producer of Melbourne’s number one FM breakfast show The Hot Breakfast.
Eddie is the founder of JAM TV, one of Australia’s leading independent production companies, delivering premium sport, entertainment and major-event content across all media platforms.
A transformative sports administrator, Eddie served as President of the Collingwood Football Club for 23 years, steering the club from financial crisis to becoming the biggest sporting organisation in the country. He was also the inaugural President of the Melbourne Stars, helping shape the Big Bash League into a global success story.
Deeply committed to community impact, Eddie established the Collingwood Foundation—providing thousands of meals each week to vulnerable Australians and housing for more than 150 people—and chairs the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Foundation. He has served on the boards of Visit Victoria and the Victorian Major Events Corporation during a period when Victoria was named International Sports City of the Decade.
Eddie’s contribution to sport, media and the community has been recognised with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), a Centenary Medal, an Australian Sports Medal and an honorary Doctor of Communications from RMIT University. He is a Life Member of the Collingwood Football Club, the Australian Football Media Association, and a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club Hall of Fame.
