It would be hard to find a voice that captures the mood of a song more perfectly than Daryl Braithwaite’s. With a voice that soars with inspiration, soul, and warmth, Daryl has become one of Australia’s premier performers over a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years.
Daryl first rose to prominence as the lead singer of Sherbet, one of Australia’s most iconic bands. Between 1971 and 1979, Sherbet released 20 national Top 40 singles and 15 albums, becoming the first Australian band to surpass $1 million in album sales. Hits such as Summer Love and Howzat cemented their place in Australian music history, with Howzat achieving #2 on the UK charts.
Following his success with Sherbet, Daryl returned as a solo artist in 1988 with the album Edge, which spent over a year on the national charts and spawned four hit singles, including the gold single One Summer. The album became the highest-selling CD in CBS Australia’s history at the time. He followed this with the 1990 release Rise, which became the biggest-selling album in 1991 and achieved multi-platinum status, producing iconic singles such as Rise and The Horses. The Horses held the #1 position for three consecutive weeks and was named Song of the Year at the 1991 Australian Music Awards.
Daryl’s solo career has taken him across Australia, North America, Europe, and the UK, and his influence continues to resonate with fans across generations. In 2017, he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as a solo artist, recognising his enduring impact on the Australian music landscape.

His 2017 release Days Go By! showcases career highlights and includes new recordings of classics, including James Reyne’s Motor’s Too Fast, Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes, and Chicago’s If You Leave Me Now. The album debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Charts, proving that his appeal remains as strong as ever.
