Bill Harrigan is widely regarded as one of Australia’s finest and most respected sporting officials. With an incredible 393 First Grade Rugby League games, 21 State of Origins, 25 Test Matches, and 10 Grand Finals under his belt, Bill has officiated some of the most iconic moments in Rugby League history. Before becoming a household name in the world of Rugby League, Bill spent years in high-stakes situations as an elite police officer with the NSW Tactical Response Group and the Special Weapons and Operations Squad, dealing with life-threatening situations and hardened criminals. His transition from a career in law enforcement to refereeing was just the start of a remarkable journey in sport.
Upon retiring from refereeing, Bill continued to make an impact in the NRL, serving as a consultant for the Sydney City Roosters and later returning to the NRL as a referee’s consultant. He was also appointed CEO of Australian Oztag and has built a successful career as a leading advisor to the game.
