Anne Carey is a courageous humanitarian, nurse, and midwife who has risked her life to save others in some of the world’s most dangerous war zones and regions devastated by disease. Her work has taken her from remote Australia to Darfur, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Sudan, where she has provided frontline care in hospitals, refugee camps, and epidemic zones.

Educated as a missionary nurse, Anne spent 18 years in a missionary order before working in remote health care in Australia and volunteering with the Red Cross in conflict zones. She was among the first volunteers to combat the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone and helped protect refugees under attack in Gereida, Sudan.

Anne’s dedication has been widely recognised, including the Pride of Australia Care and Compassion Award (2015) and W.A. Australian of the Year (2016). Today, she continues her advocacy, tackling bullying in the health workforce and advocating for the fair and humane treatment of refugees.

A first-class speaker, Anne inspires audiences worldwide with her extraordinary experiences, courage, and enduring commitment to kindness in the face of adversity.
