Andrew Scipione is a highly respected leader known for his integrity, compassion, and honesty. He served as the Commissioner of the New South Wales Police Force from 2007 to 2017, making him one of the longest-serving police chiefs in NSW history. Throughout his distinguished career, Andrew led the force with a strong commitment to reducing crime and enhancing public safety, while overseeing significant reforms in policing and leadership practices.

A gifted communicator, Andrew has witnessed both the darkest and brightest moments of Australia’s history, including the Lindt Cafe siege and the tragic assassination of police accountant Curtis Cheng. His leadership during these challenging times earned widespread respect across political, media, and community sectors. Under his guidance, crime rates in NSW reached an all-time low, and community trust in the NSW Police Force grew significantly.

Andrew’s career began in 1980 when he joined NSW Police. He held numerous key positions, including roles in national and international crime operations, covert surveillance, and counter-terrorism. In 2007, he was appointed Police Commissioner and led the force through a transformative period, modernising systems, enhancing training, and improving community engagement. His efforts in shaping the future of policing in NSW earned him numerous accolades, including the Australian Police Medal and Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia.

Andrew holds a Masters Degree in Management from Macquarie University, a Graduate Diploma in Police Management, and a Graduate Certificate in Security Management. He has also been awarded several honorary doctorates in recognition of his contributions to law enforcement.
