Mark Skaife is one of our country’s most impressive touring car drivers. In a legendary racing career that spanned 22 years, he won five touring car championships and five Bathurst races.

Indeed, Mark remains the most successful driver in Australian touring car history. His achievements even surpass the late Peter Brock’s record of 37 championship round victories.

After retiring from the track in late 2008, Mark developed an outstanding career as a commentator on Channel Seven and as a co-host of triple M’s popular radio program, Stick Shift.

With impeccable motor industry credentials, he became a leading promoter of V8 Supercar racing and has been sought after for input into car development, track safety and design. Mark is also an active advisor to various companies and motoring groups regarding road safety, vehicle dynamics and driver training.

A talented speaker and MC, Mark has many long-standing relationships with corporate clients – a reflection of his loyalty, hard work and commitment to those who support him.

Like many professional racing drivers, Mark’s career began in Karts in 1981 before progressing to race cars in 1984. He was just 17.

In 1987 he began a long association with Gibson Motorsport, which resulted in two Touring Car Championships, two Bathurst wins and three Australian Drivers (Gold Star) titles in open wheelers. Skaifey joined the Holden Racing Team in 1997, co-driving with Peter Brock for his two last events. He won a hat-trick of touring car championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002 with HRT in a hugely successful dynasty. The decorated driver is much is much loved by the motor racing fraternity.

Despite his fierce will to win and intensity on the track, Mark always had time to sign autographs and chat with his loyal fans.

After retiring from full time racing in 2008, Mark was appointed an Independent Director of V8 Supercars Australia and joined the V8 Supercars TV commentary team. Developing the concept and project managing the V8 Supercars ‘Car of the Future’ program, Mark led an influx of new manufacturers into the Championship including Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo. He served as the inaugural Chairman of the V8 Supercars Commission until the end of 2013.

Mark is Chairman of the CAMS National Track Safety Advisory Committee (NTSAC) and designer of the V8 Supercars street circuits in Townsville, Sydney and the revised layout on the Gold Coast and New Zealand. He is also a Director of the CAMS Foundation, which aims to help talented young Australian drivers reach the pinnacle of motor sport in their chosen category and raise Australia’s profile on the world stage.

In 2004 Mark was awarded the medal of the Order Of Australia for his services to motor racing and the community. In 2014, he was recognised for his contribution and achievements in V8 Supercars by being inducted into the V8 Supercars Hall of Fame alongside the sports great champions.

Articulate, with a great sense of humour, he has been one of the great ambassadors for his sport through media and corporate appearances.
