Glen Osborne

Sporting hero, sports presenter, after-dinner speaker

Glen Osborne, the flamboyant former All Black better known as Ozzy, is one of New Zealand’s most humorous sporting heroes and one of the funniest after dinner speakers currently on the circuit. He’s full of tall rugby tales.

Born and bred in the back blocks of the Wanganui District -a Hurricane’s rugby region – Glen grew up understanding that to achieve anything you had to work hard.  This life lesson no doubt taught this young country lad how to succeed in the rugby world.

Glen played his first game for the All Blacks in 1995 and achieved 29 caps with 19 tests throughout his career. As an All Black he quickly became popular off and on the field.

Now retired from rugby, Glen Osborne spends most of his time boosting sport on the TV screen. Outgoing and comical, Glen is still in the limelight off the field, appearing as a television personality in various roles on TVNZ and Maori Television and as a very entertaining after-dinner speaker.

More about Glen Osborne:

Glen’s rugby playing really came of age in 1992 when he was selected for the NZ Seven’s team, making a huge impact and gaining ‘Player of the Tournament’ in nearly every competition played.

Glen Osborne was selected for every team in the Black jersey, from NZ Maoris, NZ 7’s, NZ Colts, NZ Divisional, NZ Academy and NZ A -to the pinnacle of any rugby player’s career, the All Blacks.

Glen also played the first three years of Super 12 for the Chiefs and the Blues, and one for the Hurricanes, starting six games on the wing. He then left for two seasons in France, returned to North Harbour for the 2001 NPC, then left again to finish his playing days in Japan. After returning from four years in Japan, Glen was quickly snapped up by Maori TV, who had recognised his talent as an on-screen sports presenter.
