Vicki Wilson OAM is widely regarded as one of the greatest goal shooters in world netball history. Beginning her journey at just seven years of age, she rose to become the dominant goal shooter of her era, retiring in 1999 after a then-record 104 Test caps for Australia.

Across a distinguished 15-year international career, Wilson competed in four World Cups, securing three World Championship titles in 1991, 1995 and 1999. She captained Australia to gold in the 1999 World Cup and led the Diamonds to victory at the inaugural Commonwealth Games netball competition in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.

At state level, Wilson represented Queensland Under-19s in 1982 and the Open team from 1983 to 1996, captaining the side for much of that period. She became the first athlete to achieve more than 150 caps for Queensland Open netball, cementing her status as one of the state’s most influential players.

When the Commonwealth Bank Trophy launched in 1997, Wilson was the natural choice as inaugural captain of the Queensland Firebirds, leading the franchise until her retirement in 1999.

Her remarkable playing career has been recognised with some of Australia’s highest sporting honours. She was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 1992, named among the Australian Institute of Sport’s “Best of the Best” athletes in 2002, inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Australian Netball Hall of Fame in 2008. She also holds Life Membership with Netball Queensland.

Following her retirement as a player, Wilson transitioned seamlessly into elite coaching. As Head Coach of the Queensland Firebirds from 2006 to 2009, she played a pivotal role in recruiting and developing talent, laying the foundations for the club’s premiership successes in 2011, 2015 and 2016. She has since coached internationally with the New Zealand Silver Ferns and Fiji national teams, and in 2023 was appointed to World Netball’s Coaching Advisory Panel, contributing to the global development of high-performance coaching standards.

Today, Vicki Wilson brings her wealth of experience in leadership, resilience, team culture and high-performance environments to audiences across sport and corporate sectors, sharing insights from a career defined by excellence, accountability and winning under pressure.
