Tom Williams is a carpenter by trade and a popular media personality, known for his adventurous spirit and approachable, “nice guy” persona.

Tom’s media career began in July 2000, appearing as a regular guest on Merrick and Rosso’s Triple J radio show as Tom the Chippy. He followed the duo to NOVA the following year, hosting The Chippy’s Driver Reviver segment every Friday morning. His radio success led to television opportunities, with Tom becoming the resident carpenter on the Seven Network’s DIY show Room For Improvement in 2001.

Tom’s profile skyrocketed in 2005 following his winning performance on Dancing With The Stars. Since then, he has enjoyed co-hosting roles on Gladiators, Rexona’s Greatest Athlete, and the travel series High Road Low Road, as well as a four-year tenure as host of Surf Patrol. He has also joined the Channel Seven commentary team for several Olympic Games and the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Iron Man Series.

One of Tom’s most cherished roles was as a reporter on the long-running travel show The Great Outdoors (2001–2012). A skiing and snowboarding enthusiast, competitive ocean kayaker, and keen surfer, Tom embraced the show’s adventurous spirit, presenting from more than 60 trips across 25 countries. Highlights included paragliding over Switzerland’s Matterhorn, trekking through the Guatemalan jungle, exploring an active volcano in Costa Rica, and walking the Inca Trail into Machu Picchu.

In 2011, Tom returned to radio with Classic Rock FM, presenting The Tom Williams Show, a two-hour weekly lifestyle program covering entertainment, music, news, health, and fitness. He has also authored DIY Around The Home, a practical guide offering simple and effective home improvement projects.

Tom has recently expanded his career into real estate, becoming a partner at Boutiques Estates International. Drawing on his building background, he provides a comprehensive, 360-degree approach to property and real estate.

Born and raised in Sydney, Tom enjoys spending time with his family and young daughter. He is also an ambassador for the Sydney Swans AFL team and loves exploring Australia’s sun, sand, and surf in his downtime.
