Tim Gilbert

Tim Gilbert is one of Australia’s most recognised, respected and experienced television and radio journalists, having reported on many of the most significant sporting moments of the past three decades.

Tim began his career in Goulburn, NSW, at Hits and Memories 2GN radio after completing a Communications Degree. He later joined Sydney’s Radio 2UE as a sports broadcaster and reporter, anchoring programs and covering major live events, including travelling to the Subcontinent for the 1996 Cricket World Cup.

Upon returning to Australia, Tim joined Channel Nine as part of the iconic Wide World of Sports team. Over the next 23 years, he became a familiar and trusted face across the network’s major sporting productions, including The Cricket Show and The Footy Show, establishing himself as a leading commentator, presenter and reporter.

In 2009, Tim was appointed weekend sports presenter on Weekend TODAY, before transitioning in 2014 to present sport on the weekday TODAY show. He spent more than a decade as part of the TODAY show family, delivering trusted sports coverage to audiences nationwide.

Throughout his career, Tim has reported from some of the world’s biggest sporting stages, including cricket tours in India, major golf tournaments in the United States, the London Olympic Games, the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, and the Commonwealth Games in both Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.

One of his personal and professional highlights was covering the 50th anniversary of Don Bradman’s Invincibles in 1998, where he interviewed 10 of the 13 surviving members for a special two-part feature on The Cricket Show.

Tim currently presents on Sky News Australia, hosting the Weekend Breakfast program. During his time with the network, he has also launched two new shows, Racing Dreams and The Business of Sport.
