Shawn Redhage, born in Florida and raised in Nebraska, USA, is a naturalised Australian professional basketball player and captain of the Perth Wildcats in the NBL since 2009. Widely regarded as one of Australia’s top basketball talents, Shawn was voted into the NBL Top Five Most Valuable Players list for five consecutive years (2006–2010) and holds multiple club MVP records.
After an outstanding high school career, earning Nebraska Player of the Year in 1998/99, Shawn played for Arizona State University, helping the team to its 4th NCAA tournament appearance in 30 years and graduating with honours in Construction Management. He moved to Australia in 2004 to play professionally, first in the SEABL, before joining the Perth Wildcats in 2005, where he earned the nickname “The Scoring Machine.”
Shawn has represented Australia at the Beijing Olympics, became an Australian citizen in 2008, and led the Wildcats to multiple championships. In 2011, he overcame a devastating hip injury that doctors said would end his career, returning to the court just seven months later to lead the team with a career-high performance.
Off the court, Shawn is completing an MBA and works as a financial planner at Savanna Pride Financial Planning in Perth.
