Sam Mac is a smart, versatile and highly engaging media presenter who thrives on entertaining audiences — whether on screen, behind a microphone, in the field or on stage at corporate and community events.
Best known as the much-loved weather presenter on Channel Seven’s Sunrise since 2016, Sam has built a reputation for delivering news with humour, warmth and unpredictability. From performing aerial acrobatics in a vintage Tiger Moth plane to bungee jumping live on air — and even re-releasing a rap version of Nikki Webster’s Strawberry Kisses — Sam consistently surprises and delights viewers across Australia.
His unique style resonates with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, combining quick wit with authenticity and an ability to connect instantly.
Beyond Sunrise, Sam is the narrator of Seven’s hit dating series First Dates and hosted the prime-time comedy panel show Best Bits!. He has appeared regularly on Network Ten’s The Project and contributed to Ten’s coverage of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. His earlier television roles include hosting the TenPlay spin-off live stream Fall Out Zone for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, co-hosting The Thursday Night Sports Show on Channel One, and working as a field reporter on Network Ten’s breakfast program Wake Up.
A passionate sports fan, Sam was a regular on the digital cricket series Googly Box during the 2015/16 summer and has been one half of comedy football duo The B-League.
Originally from Adelaide, Sam began his career in radio after winning SAFM’s Who Wants to Be a Co-Host on Air? competition. He went on to host his own late-night show on SAFM, work with Triple M’s Wil and Lehmo as writer and on-air contributor, and host Austereo’s National Hot 30 Countdown. After three years in Perth on Austereo’s Em & Sam Mac Show and Lisa, Baz and Sam, he moved to Sydney in 2013 and continues to appear regularly on Triple M and Nova.
As a seasoned event MC, Sam brings energy, professionalism and spontaneity to every occasion. His live television experience ensures he can adapt quickly, engage diverse audiences and keep events running seamlessly.
Sam is an ambassador for Sydney Dogs & Cats Home and a passionate supporter of Beyond Blue.
