Sallyanne Atkinson AO is a professional company director, international business consultant, writer and highly regarded public speaker. A former Lord Mayor of Brisbane, she is recognised nationally and internationally for her leadership in strategic planning, governance and economic development.
As Lord Mayor from 1985 to 1991, Sallyanne led one of the most comprehensive urban reform agendas undertaken by an Australian city, spanning land use planning, transport, economic development and social policy. Her leadership helped reshape Brisbane’s long-term strategic direction and positioned the city for future growth.
Internationally, she served as Australia’s Senior Trade Commissioner to France (1994–1997), promoting Australian exports and investment, and represented Australia at the International Chamber of Commerce. She also played a significant role in Olympic governance, leading Brisbane’s 1992 Olympic bid and serving on the Sydney Organising Committee, later acting as European Representative and Deputy Mayor of the Olympic Village.
An Officer of the Order of Australia, Sallyanne has served on numerous corporate and government boards and advisory councils. She brings deep expertise in governance, cross-cultural negotiation, institutional change and strategic implementation.
