Ryan Phelan is Head of Media and Broadcast at Harness Racing Victoria (HRV), where he leads the organisation’s comprehensive media strategy. He oversees broadcast operations, content creation and talent management, delivering impactful campaigns that resonate across audiences. Ryan drives strategic planning, fosters senior-level partnerships and leverages wagering insights and data-driven racing content to elevate HRV’s presence across multiple media platforms. By combining strategic vision with hands-on execution, he ensures HRV’s messaging consistently aligns with brand and organisational objectives.

With more than 27 years’ experience across Australia’s media landscape, Ryan has built a reputation for excellence in presentation, production and executive relationship management. His career spans high-profile on-camera roles, senior producing positions and talent leadership, consistently balancing creative ambition with commercial discipline.

As Senior Media Advisor at Life Without Barriers, Ryan specialised in inclusive and purpose-driven storytelling. He developed strategic narratives across foster care, aged care, disability services, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs, strengthening brand trust while reinforcing the organisation’s mission and values.

During his tenure with the Seven Network, Ryan hosted news, entertainment and sport across flagship programs including The Morning Show, The Daily Edition, 7News, Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise. He contributed to coverage of major international and national events including the 2016 Olympic Games, Rugby League World Cup and Melbourne Cup Carnival. He also represented the NRL on Fox Sports’ Monday Night Football and Super Saturday, hosted the prestigious Dally M Medal, and has held roles with Network Ten, ESPN and Sky Channel.

An accomplished and confident Master of Ceremonies, Ryan is highly sought after for corporate events, sporting functions and major awards nights.
