Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald is a former AFL player turned award-winning breakfast radio host, television presenter and sought-after MC. Known for his sharp wit and unmistakable larrikin charm, Fitzy has become one of Australia’s most recognisable multimedia personalities.
After playing AFL for the Adelaide Crows and the Sydney Swans, Fitzy first captured national attention during his appearance on Big Brother in 2004. His down-to-earth appeal quickly made him a household name and opened the door to a thriving media career.
He joined Nova 91.9FM Adelaide as a sports reporter before becoming part of the station’s top-rating breakfast team. In 2006, he won Best Newcomer On Air at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards. His continued success led to Nova Sydney Breakfast, where Fitzy & Wippa with Michael “Wippa” Wipfli became the number one-rating breakfast show in Sydney. In 2013, the duo were the faces of YouTube Comedy Week Australia.
Fitzy’s television credits include regular appearances on The Project, Before The Game, Can of Worms, Back Page Live and Between The Lines. From 2005 to 2008, he co-hosted Big Brother Friday Night Live, and he also co-hosted the first two seasons of Friday Night Download on Network Ten.
A favourite segment during his time on Before The Game, “Make a Wish”, reflected Fitzy’s genuine love of football and community, helping young fans experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
Fitzy is also in high demand for endorsements and brand partnerships, having appeared in campaigns for Pura Classic Choc Milk, Subway, Jetstar, Coopers, VMax Cinemas and CardioTech, among others.
As an MC, he brings humour, energy and relatability to major corporate events for brands including Westfield, Coca-Cola, Harvey Norman and NOVA.
