Ricky Stuart enjoys a unique and distinguished place in rugby league, both as a player and coach. One of the game’s most iconic figures, his career has been marked by remarkable achievements that span both the domestic and international stages.

A dual international, Ricky represented both the Australian Kangaroos in rugby league and the Wallabies in rugby union. He won the Dally M Player of the Year in 1993 and played a pivotal role in Canberra Raiders’ three premierships (1989, 1990, 1994). He also earned 9 Tests for Australia, 14 State of Origin appearances, and two Kangaroo tours.

Ricky transitioned to coaching in 2001, with his first major success coming in 2002, when he led the Sydney Roosters to their first NRL Premiership in 27 years. He followed this with a World Cup Challenge win in 2003 and took the Roosters to three consecutive grand finals (2002-2004).

Ricky also achieved significant success with New South Wales, winning a State of Origin series in 2005 and coaching the Australian Kangaroos from 2006 to 2008, winning the Tri-Nations championship in his first year. After coaching stints at the Bulldogs, Sharks, and Eels, Stuart returned to the Canberra Raiders in 2014, where he revitalized the team, guiding them to the 2019 NRL Grand Final.

Named Dally M Coach of the Year in 2016, Ricky has been instrumental in the Raiders’ resurgence, consistently competing at the top of the NRL ladder. He was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame in 2018, cementing his legacy as one of the game’s greatest figures.
