Paul Murray is one of Australia’s most respected journalists and broadcasters, renowned for his incisive reporting, leadership, and media expertise. He was the longest-serving editor of The West Australian (1990–2000), overseeing record-breaking circulation milestones, modernising the paper’s format, and introducing innovative features such as Inside Cover, Today, and Super Soccer.
Following his editorship, Paul hosted the flagship morning current affairs program on Radio 6PR from 2000–2006, establishing himself as one of Western Australia’s leading broadcasters. He later returned to The West Australian as a columnist and specialist writer, bringing his insider perspective on politics, business, and contemporary Australian life.
Paul began his career in journalism in 1970 with a cadetship at The West Australian and has since worked across print, radio, and investigative reporting, earning numerous awards including the Lovekin Prize, the Daily News Centenary Prize, and the Beck Prize for Political Journalism.
As a speaker, Paul brings credibility, insight, and an engaging personality to conferences, seminars, and corporate events. He addresses topics such as communication, leadership, media ethics, current affairs, and the challenges of fearless journalism.
