Natasha Pincus BSc (Hons) LLB (Hons) is one of Australia’s leading creatives and an internationally renowned storyteller, celebrated for her ability to blend artistic vision with intellectual rigour. A multi award-winning director and writer, Natasha is also a qualified lawyer and research scientist—making her a contemporary example of a true renaissance thinker.
Natasha is best known for directing Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know, one of the most iconic music videos of all time, with more than 1.5 billion views worldwide. Her work has shaped the visual identity of some of Australia’s most loved artists, including Powderfinger, Paul Kelly, Gotye, Missy Higgins, The Paper Kites and Sarah Blasko. She is a two-time ARIA Award winner for Best Music Video and has received international recognition with nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards for Best Video and Best Editing.
Expanding her creative impact beyond music, Natasha recently conceived and directed 16 narratively connected David Bowie music videos as part of Australia’s premiere production of LAZARUS, the acclaimed stage work by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. The project was widely praised for its ambitious storytelling and cinematic scope.
An accomplished screenwriter, Natasha has written more than 20 feature film and television scripts across Australia and the United States. Her projects include adapting the Pulitzer-nominated novel Snow Child for Tangerine Entertainment and co-writing The Twisted for Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions. Her screenplay Middle of the Air won the UCLA Screenwriting Contest, while Clive was selected for the prestigious US Hollywood Blacklist and was a semi-finalist in the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship.
Natasha also wrote the feature film Fell, directed by Kasimir Burgess, which premiered In Competition at the Sydney Film Festival. Across all disciplines, her work is defined by intelligence, emotional depth and a fearless commitment to originality.

The Creation of a Gotye Video That Now We All Know
The award-winning music video for Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know has had more than one billion views. It is one of the most famous music videos of all time.
Natasha directed, edited and produced the world famous “Somebody That I Used to Know” music video for Gotye as part of her music video practice.
The video was created humbly, collaboratively, and pedantically, and went on to win the ARIA Award, a nomination for the VMA MTV Award for Best Music Video, and garner more than 50 international awards. The video’s viral spread created a landmark internet sensation.
