Mike Whitney is one of Australia’s most engaging motivational and after-dinner speakers, renowned for his ability to captivate audiences with humour, charm, and compelling storytelling. A consummate anecdotist and accomplished mimic, Mike combines personal experience with wit and insight to leave a lasting impression.
A qualified aviation engineer, Mike first made his mark as a fast bowler in professional cricket, enjoying a 14-year career before retiring in 1994. Since then, he has established a diverse career in media and entertainment, including hosting Seven Network’s top-rating program Sydney Weekender since 1994, co-hosting Who Dares Wins, and presenting for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, and the Indian Cricket League.
Mike has also made a significant contribution to sport and the community, serving as President and Life Member of the Randwick-Petersham Cricket Club, Life Member of Cricket NSW, and Director of the South Sydney Rabbitohs during a critical period of their reinstatement. He is a patron of the Sydney Kids Committee and an active fundraiser for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, including organising the popular “Whit Walk – Kilometers for Kids.”
