Miguel Maestre is a talented Spanish chef, restaurateur and television personality who has made Sydney his home. Born in Murcia, Spain, Miguel’s passion for food and life has been evident from a young age. After working in kitchens around the world, including with Australia’s top chefs such as Serge Dansereau and Tony Bilson, and being inspired by Ferran Adrià at El Bulli, Miguel opened Australia’s largest Spanish restaurant, El Toro Loco, in Manly.

Miguel has cooked at some of Australia’s most prestigious events, including the Emirates Melbourne Cup and the Australian Grand Prix, and has been recognised by His Majesty The King of Spain with the Order of Civil Merit for his outstanding service to Spain in the Australian media. He is also the owner and founder of Maestre Enterprises, showcasing over 100 gourmet Spanish products across bakery, cheeses, smallgoods, paella kits, patatas fritas and cookware.

A familiar face on television, Miguel co-hosted the four-time Logie-winning and AACTA-award-winning show The Living Room and has appeared in Boys Weekend, Miguel’s Tropical Kitchen, Miguel’s Feasts, Weekend Feasts and Dancing With The Stars. In 2020, he was crowned “King of the Jungle” on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. He is also a best-selling author, with books including Miguel’s Tapas, Spanish Cooking, Feasts, and co-author of Life Force with Barry Du Bois.

Miguel is a proud Brand Ambassador for Stockland and Harris Scarfe and works closely with charities including OzHarvest, R U OK? and CARE Australia.
