Mickey Arthur is a highly respected international cricket coach and leadership expert, with a career spanning more than three decades as both a player and coach at the highest level. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mickey played for Griqualand West and Orange Free State before retiring in 2001 with over 6,500 career runs.
He began coaching with Griquas and Eastern Cape, leading to his appointment as coach of the South African national cricket team in 2005. Under his leadership, South Africa achieved unprecedented success, including nine unbeaten Test series, historic wins at home and abroad, and becoming the top-ranked team in both Test and ODI cricket. Mickey was the first South African coach to guide his team to a Test series win in Australia, overcoming nearly a century of challenges.
Following his tenure with South Africa, Mickey moved to Australia, coaching the Western Warriors and then the Australian national cricket team from 2011–2013. He later coached in franchise cricket, including Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League and Jamaica in the Caribbean Premier League, before being appointed Head Coach of the Pakistan National Cricket Team in 2016.
Mickey is also a seasoned media commentator in Australia and internationally, and an experienced public speaker, engaging audiences from aspiring athletes to senior executives. He runs the Mickey Arthur Cricket Academy in Perth, where he mentors the next generation of cricketers.
