Michael Balk is one of Australia’s most prolific and respected entertainers, with a career spanning more than two decades across television, stage, radio and film. Widely recognised for his work in children’s content, Michael is the actor behind the much-loved Scrapboy from dirtgirlworld and Get Grubby TV on the ABC, appearing in over 1,000 episodes broadcast both locally and internationally.
Currently working as a producer and presenter with Nine Entertainment, Michael holds a rare position in Australian media, appearing daily across both commercial and public broadcasters. His on-screen experience is matched by an extensive live performance career, where he is highly sought after as a compere and MC for events of all scales.
From intimate media launches and corporate functions to stadium concerts and major festivals, Michael brings clarity, warmth and authority to every stage. His hosting credits include the Sydney Olympics Torch Ceremony and mainstage appearances at events such as Woodford Folk Festival and Splendour in the Grass. He also leads the Actors’ & Entertainers Benevolent Fund, championing a sustainable and inclusive future for Australian performers.
