Madeleine Morris is an internationally recognised journalist and communications consultant with extensive experience in broadcast and print media. She is best known to Australian audiences as the finance presenter and newsreader on ABC’s flagship breakfast program, News Breakfast, where her clarity, warmth and engaging style made her a favourite with viewers.
Madeleine has held senior reporting roles on ABC programs including 7.30, AM, and ABC/RMIT Fact Check, as well as an 11-year tenure at the BBC reporting from over 20 countries, including a period as Washington Correspondent. Her reporting has focused on politics, finance, social affairs and development issues, earning accolades including a One World Media Award for a documentary on India’s micro-finance sector.
Passionate about evidence-based communication, Madeleine authored Guilt-Free Bottle-Feeding: Why Your Formula-Fed Baby Can Be Happy, Healthy and Smart and has written for The Times, The Guardian, Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. She has interviewed world leaders, CEOs and global superstars, yet she is equally adept at drawing extraordinary stories from everyday people.
In late 2023, Madeleine transitioned from News Breakfast to focus on consulting for clients in the financial services and enviro-tech industries, specialising in strategy and communications. She also thrives as a highly skilled MC and moderator, leveraging her journalistic expertise, deep knowledge and adaptability to deliver lively, insightful and memorable sessions.
Madeleine holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland and postgraduate qualifications from the London School of Economics and UTS. Her approachable style, quick thinking and humour make her a standout choice for conferences, panels and live events.
