Lisa Wilkinson AM is one of Australia’s most admired and respected media personalities, with a career spanning more than four decades across print, television and radio. A multi-Walkley-award-nominated and Logie-award-winning journalist, Lisa has been recognised for her exceptional contributions to Australian media and society, and was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016 for her work with women’s and children’s charities.
Growing up in Sydney’s western suburbs, Lisa’s drive, determination and instinct have defined a trailblazing career. At just 21, she became the youngest editor of Dolly magazine, tripling its circulation within four years. She was then personally headhunted by media mogul Kerry Packer to edit Cleo, where her ten-year tenure cemented the magazine as the world’s top-selling women’s lifestyle title per capita. Lisa has mentored numerous successful media figures, including Mia Freedman and Deborah Thomas, and even gave Nicole Kidman her first magazine cover.
Transitioning into television, Lisa co-hosted Foxtel’s Beauty & The Beast before helping launch Weekend Sunrise on Channel Seven, taking it to number one in the ratings. She later co-hosted the Today show on Channel Nine alongside Karl Stefanovic, becoming the program’s longest-serving female co-host and achieving top ratings. In 2017, Lisa moved to Channel Ten as co-host of The Project, making headlines worldwide for her stand on the gender pay gap.
Lisa is also an accomplished author. Her memoir, It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This, became a number-one bestseller and was named one of Apple’s Ten Best Books of the Year. Her forthcoming book, The Titanic Story of Evelyn, tells the never-before-revealed story of the only Australian-born survivor of the Titanic.
A sought-after keynote speaker, Lisa draws on her extraordinary life and career to inspire audiences with stories of resilience, leadership, authenticity and courage. Mother of three and married to best-selling author Peter FitzSimons, Lisa combines her professional achievements with a deep commitment to philanthropy and advocacy for women and children.
